Kanku and Kunar (कंकू & कुंअर)

It was a routine day for all the students, the school bell rang; kids are very hurry to enter the school gate of wi-fi enabled international primary school. All parents from the BMWs, AUDI, and Mercedes are shaking their hand towards the beautiful kids with a smile whereas the kids are not interested in entering the school as they have not yet finished their homework as they were busy in the family parties with their parents. The parents felt proud to have such life, but again Mercedes people felt jealousy and angry when they see that the nearby neighbour came with Jaguar/Hi-Class Audi. It clearly indicates that the parents were only come to school not only to drop their kid in the school, but they want to convey other neighbours how rich they. As like school dress, all mothers does not put on one single outfit, they show off their own makeup, new jewellery, new outfits, shoes obviously new car.

The same day also repeats for the students of Indian Government Primary School. It was also the same routine life for them, for the poor kids to come school by walking without even a slipper after finishing all the household work instead of homework assigned by teachers. The eldest kid, who is studying on class 6th, is mostly responsible for cooking for all the members including parents &siblings. They are responsible for feeding the little child who is 7-9 months old. Father regularly goes outside for searching of work and mother goes out for her daily household works. So the kids are habituated for this type of work. When the mother is ill, again all the responsibility lies on the eldest girl of the family, they have to finish all the household work and the work of her mother and   After all this, they came to the school very happily and gracefully without any complaint. Every day the kids are so busy in such life they forget to play, dance, sing, and think innovatively.

Today is a different day for me; recently I shifted my room from Saundarya 444, Sargasan to Shyam Shukan, near PDPU. My home is dirty and full of dust. One of my friends, helped me a lot to make my home lively, instead he did everything to make my home lively is the right way to say. As usual practice, we decided to keep a maid to keep my house clean, so said the same maid who was working for my friend. But today, she was ill, so she sent her kids (Kanku and Kunar) for my household work. Kanku is the eldest daughter who studies in class 6th and Kunar (the second eldest daughter studies in class 5th. Both of them put on school dress when I saw them, the younger one make a choice to pick the broom and started sweeping my china marble floor and the elder one took the bucket of water with the liquid lizol and the cloth to clean the floor after the sweeping. Both are so aligned with their work, as they were trained for a long time, as they are the master, of doing such things. During this sweeping and cleaning activity, I tried to communicate with them and I was shocked to listen to some of their sentences. I thought it was a disbelief of my mind but after a detail discussion I was clear that it was not my imagination of my brain as I was fully awake and listen to their words. Both the girls are going to marry in few days. In this age, when both of them not fully aware about what the marriage says, what this all about is, what happen to the studies. They are the toppers of their schools Koba Kanya Sala.

Suddenly, I preferred to stop talking this matter and my imagination took me in somewhere in the School of Galathra Primary School. I remembered a girl named Zinal Parmal who studied in class 7 in the previous year. She used to come and showed her interest in the studies and said to my CEO, that She want to become a collector. And she thanked us for all the intervention we did for their school. I met her alone and try to understand the situation, her father died two years back and he want her to become a collector. So she trying hard to become a collector but she did know how to move ahead. She continued that she used to do the household works of others and support her mother to live happily. She told that our expectations never end and that's why we keep on working and studying. I felt, how grown up she was at the age of playing with doll and mud. She also mentioned that she used to help in the cultivation of their farm. In each and every process of cultivation, she took a part. She even work after the school hours and even in the case of emergency her mother came to school and invites to her to help her no matter which period it is?

Suddenly, I listen to a voice of my friend, "what are you thinking about", is this about these girls ? I kept silent. Then, he asked Kunar to go as take Rs. 20 from his father as a tips, she went and took money and gave it to my friend and after that either she took that tips or not, I never asked each of them. But at the same time, I was thinking that this is not the only case of  Kanku, Kunar and Zinal but this is the story of 1000-100000 girl children who studies in Govt. Schools, Some do not even touch school campus. Let's think what we can do as part of elite or middle-class society ?
